The SCUF Omega features PlayStation-style face buttons, but when connected to a PC it will be detected as an Xbox/XInput controller.
This is because Windows does not have a universal driver standard for most PlayStation-compatible controllers. The main exception is Sony's first-party DualSense controller, which has broader native support and recognition on PC.
In applications such as Steam, a first-party PlayStation controller may display the correct PlayStation button icons because Steam includes controller profiles that can translate and map PlayStation inputs for supported games. However, in some games, users may still need to manually configure button mappings, especially when PlayStation controller support is limited or unavailable.
The DualSense primarily uses DirectInput (D-Input) functionality, which can require manual button mapping in games that do not provide native PlayStation controller support.
The SCUF Omega uses XInput instead, providing improved plug-and-play compatibility across a wider range of PC games. The tradeoff is that games will typically display Xbox button prompts and legends. Despite this, all controller remaps and bindings on the Omega will continue to function normally while connected to your PC.
